Liver diseases

Chronic and even severe liver damage is caused by hepatotoxic factors such as:

  • excess fat caused by poor diet
  • overweight and obesity
  • alcohol abuse
  • chronic treatment with hepatotoxic drugs
  • type II diabetes
  • AIH
  • biliary tract diseases (e.g. PBC, PSC)

occurs practically without symptoms and signs of the disease, leading to a threat to health and life.

Liver failure
and the functioning of the body

Permanent liver damage leads to irreversible multi-organ impairment and dysfunction:

  • kidneys
  • circulatory system
  • pancreas
  • large intestine
  • central nervous system (CNS)

A sick liver doesn’t hurt…

By the time the correct diagnosis is made, liver damage is so serious that it is often too late for effective therapy.

HCC – Hepatocellular carcinoma
NAFLD – Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
NASH – Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis

Statistics on liver disease in the EU

It is generally believed that serious liver disease is rare…

This is wrong and harmful thinking for many people who are unaware of their disease.

In the European Union, 52 million people suffer from NAFLD/MAFLD at various stages of disease progression and levels of liver damage.

Rapid diagnosis and precise stratification of the degree of liver damage in the progressive process of fatty liver disease is the main challenge in the treatment of NAFLD/MAFLD.
